Sometimes I go days without writing a single word, other times it seems as if I would implode if I didn't write down the words that flow from the creative force that is hidden somewhere within my soul. Writing is what I want to do with my life. Pen the novel that many would want to read and then read again. Create characters that are unforgettable, seemingly becoming a part of the readers life.
Having said that, I am keenly aware that my skills as a writer have not reached the level that would produce my dream. So with determination I have spent some time now researching, exploring and speaking with people that are considered successful writers. Much needed and appreciated advice was the fruit of my efforts. The most common bit of advice was "Write and write often". Along with this counsel was the view that one should write what they know, but more importantly what they love.
I have written about what I know, (Going Numb and Addicted to Faith) and I have written about what I love...faith (The Wooden Box and Broken Crosses), I am currently working on a book of short stories about faith that I hope to have ready by Christmas. But I want more.
I enjoy reading sword and sorcery and epic fantasies, but have never attempted writing either. I feel a commitment to Faith, almost to the point that writing about anything else would seem adulterous. But the temptation to try something new is overpowering.
So I have decided to combine faith and epic fantasy, and then add a pinch of sword and sorcery to hopefully end up with a really good tale. My intent is to use this blog as the canvas, to write the story in sections (not necessarily chapters as defined). I have a story in mind, very early in form. In fact it may be without much form at all right now. The story is called The Last Nivellie. Some of the characters have lived inside my mind for many years, waiting in the wings for their turn to come to life.
The second and most important part of this plan is you. Writing and writing often serves no purpose if I don't have someone to read it. I beckon you to come along with me on this new adventure. Read about Rockrider and CrazyG. Meet their bête noire , a demonic character called Potrav.
I hope you will come along and enjoy.
